Tres Hombres
A barely related audio companion piece to the Tres Hombres written word.
Signal path: The usual, but with a heavier use of the Ottobit X.
I was futzing around with updating pedals that had not been updated in eons. I loathe updating anything as it requires I have to connect pedals to computers and that requires digging through cables and protocols (everyone does everything differently).
In doing this i inadvertently updated a Reverse C with firmware that was meant for a Lost and Found. Ooops. Honest, but dumb mistake. I was looking at the first Chase Bliss pedal I had on the board to determine which cable type I needed to connect to the laptop. (Micro USB). Once I found the cable I stupidly connected it to the first pedal I saw rather than the Lost and Found that was the intended recipient for the update.
While the Reverse C happily ate this firmware, it was not healthy for it. It did operate, but it was in a nonsensical unusable manner. Fortunately I was able to send it to Chase Bliss and they were able to flash it back to its original firmware.
The end result is that I had to do some rearranging of the pedal board as I had an empty slot with the Reverse C coming off for the repair. I swapped it out with the Ottobit X. I particularly enjoyed how I could use it performatively. Using it with the Mood II gave me some nice freeze effects that permitted me to elongate and hold some of the vocal one shots for an extended period of time.
