An acoustic guitar track yesterday augmented with a backing track with some granular audio via a Tonverk. The backing track also has some minor patterns coming from a Syntakt and a Digitakt. There is an assortment of other FX, but nothing unusual for me.

The guitar was captured via a sm57 into a Tonemaster Pro. I liked the piano vibe I had dialed in.

Unfortunately, I will never quite be able to dial it in this way again. I apparently tinkered with the parameters and maybe the pitch shifter I was using at the time? I know I used a pitch shifter of some form, but when I attempted to recreate the sound today, I could never get it quite dialed in the same way I had yesterday. The preset I saved was clearly not quite what I used at the time.

That happens. A lot. I swap things in and out as a rule more than an exception. And I am constantly changing parameters as I go along. Later, when i am reviewing something and making decisions as to whether or not to complete a piece, I will come across something interesting, and think “How did I get that sound?” I can generally get back into the ball park, but I never seem to quite get that magical mix I had at the time I was recording. Fortunately recorded, but unfortunately lost for future use.
